Bongo Fury

Hi everyone,

Smashed the rear windscreen on my bongo yesterday reversing - the problem is that I switched from comprehensive to 3rd party only 1 month ago so glass replacement isn't covered!

I rang autoglass and they've quoted me £995 - please tell me there is a cheaper way!

Might be easier (and a lot cheaper) to get a complete tailgate from a breakers & swap the whole lot over. with a bit of luck you can get the same colour.

Thanks nth, is swapping them over a difficult job? Not much of a pro with these things. In the mean time, what's best to protect the glass that is currently left, just tape it up a bit? I need to use it for at least the next few weeks. Why did I change to 3rd party?!

I think you might find a sticky on here with instructions to remove/install tailgate that I did - I swopped my tailgate because of corrosions - 6 months before I had a new rear windscreen on insurance. Bought the tool used to insert and cut out the nearly new Glass - yep as I tried to feed the edge into the black stuff on a corner - crack the glass shattered - pd off you bet I was - I intended to sell it cheap to get my excess back and a bit to cover expenses. If there is a next time I will call autoglass to remove it. I suggest 3 people for the lifting one each side and one on the base of the tailgate. NOTE my tailgate had a spoiler - the replacement did not have a spoiler OR the holes to fit one.

Thanks guys, bongo spares have a rear window for £90 - who could then fit it, best just to go to a local garage? Tailgate is £130 so would prefer just to do the window tbh.
