Bongo garages near Yorkshire

Hi

We are thinking of buying a Bongo to use for family weekenders and would like to know if anyone can recommend a place not a million miles from Skipton in Yorkshire (under 1 hours drive would be good) that can do any conversion work we require? Initially we would just be looking at adding a leisure battery and the associated wiring (along with an external hookup if that is possible). We would also like to get the Bongo undersealed so a recommendation for a place that could do that would be great too! I've seen this place with prices starting from £380 but have no idea whether that is a reasonable price...http://www.waxoyltreatment.co.uk/.

Thanks for any advice

Alan

Can't help you on the garage front - I would recommend Ian Taylor but it is a good 2 hour journey for you.

However a lot of Bongos come with a Leisure battery so you might not need to get one of those sorted.

All the bits you want doing don't really need a Bongo specialist - most garages will be able to offer a waxoyl treatment. Most motorhome/campervan places will be able to sort out the LB - and the change over wiring isn't hard - the harness can be purchased with instructions for any competent fitter.

I saw a Bongo on the internet the other day which had the mains hookup socket under the bonnet (not quite sure where as it just had the hookup lead coming out) but seemed a good unobtrusive place to put it especially if you don't want a proper conversion inside. You just need to decide on somewhere to put the mains fusebox and sockets inside. They would perhaps fit in the back corner of the passenger footwell??

Having said that about any garage being able to do those bits - it is worth having a Bongo savvy garage on Standby in case of any faults.

Also whilst you are having the above work done it is worth getting a low coolant alarm fitted.

Thanks for the response. The other thing we need to do is buy a bongo :D We were thinking of driving to Jal Imports on the weekend for a look and it looks like Ian is on the way so we will try to arrange to call in there as well!
