2017 Venues: Nominations Required

We are now turning our attention to potential locations for next year's club meetings. If you would like to nominate a particular site, especially in an area we haven't visited before (or for a long time) then post here, or contact Bongo Mission Control.
We will be holding meetings at Stourport in June and Looe in September.
The minimum requirements for our meetings are
must have a minimum of 30 electric hook ups, preferably together
must be child & dog friendly
must allow group bookings at a discount
must be walking distance of pub/cafe/facilities
preferably on a bus route
Any nominations?

A couple of suggestions from Team Muz. For Wales, try
Penrhyn Bay Caravan Park on Anglesey, it's a bit exposed (but so is Barmouth) but it's a cracking site.
For Scotland, in 2010 you held the meet at
Brighouse Bay Holiday Park which was a lovely site in an unusual part of Scotland - Turn left at Gretna!
One of the sites I really fancied was the one organised at
Sands Caravan & Camping Park but the dates didn't work out for us. If we knew in plenty of time (we haven't arranged next year's tours yet) we'd be a definite for that one and make a week or so of it to do some of the places in Scotland yet to be trialled

Tudor Arms at Slimbridge has been mentioned:
http://www.tudorcaravanpark.com/about.php
We did discuss the fact that is could be a bit close to Stourport but what do other peeps think?
Edit: Having looked at their web page it seems they no longer take group bookings.
Difinately had rallies last time we were there but hey ho.
Worth checking out as individuals if you're that way.

Wellington Country Park in Berkshire is also very good, I think you used it for one of the Southern Fairies meetings a while back
Also
Goosewood Holiday Park just to the north of York is good, they've had some ownership changes so I don't know whether they'll still agree to us all turning up together.
And don't forget the old favourite
Bryn Gloch near Llanberis, a great site and handy for Snowdon, Caernarfon and Anglesey, and has the Welsh Highland Railway running through it. And not forgetting Bounce Below (underground trampolines), Electric Mountain, Sygun copper mine, Portmeirion village and, for the adventurous - Zip World near Bangor, the longest & fastest zip-wire in Europe

I'll be on standby barbecuing some Spam for the survivors

The drawback of Wellington is that the pitches are in the woods and widely spread out so it's not so great for people to socialise. The walk to the local pub through the forest in the dark is also not for the feint-hearted!
A long while back, there was a Southern Softies at Hurley
http://www.hurleyriversidepark.co.uk/ which is quite well located for exploring Marlow, Windsor & Henley.

It was my suggestion to Ian to try the silver sands holiday park as I had visited it on 2 previous occasions, unfortunately for us Muz since my last visit the site had changed hands, when we attended the last bash there most bongos were not together but were scattered all over the place, lack of working electric hook up, swimming pool closed and chip shop undermanned, both issues due to staff walkouts, I would not recommend visiting again.

How about Nantcol?
https://www.nantcolwaterfalls.co.uk/index.php
Appears it will take bookings for groups, subject to permission and has in excess of 30 hook-ups. Excellent facilities with a shop too. Great price. Good walk down an easy'ish footpath to the pub in Llanbedr. Excellent walking around the site. No buses though.
Suggest out of holiday period as it gets very popular.

Has it? I never knew that! I kept walking up the hill to get a signal - which was good when you got there!

Nantcol has 36 hookups, walk to pub through woods, waterfalls. Great modern toilet block, No shop.
Cross country run into hills looking for folks that have gone to find phone signal {Jilly}
