Sliding door contact pins seal

Hello,
I'm trying to replace the perished seal that surrounds the sliding door pin contacts, which is currently held together with vaseline. Done a search here and on Lush projects, but seems elusive. Much appreciate a nudge in the right direction. Thanks, David.

Mine looks a bit rubbish and I had planned to stick several layers of foam material together (mouse mat type foam) however it hasn't deteriorated any further so never got round to doing it.

Hi
Try back-packing roll-mattress, it cuts very nicely!
Cheers

I have often wondered if it would be possible to cut one of these out of a flip flop with a craft knife and super glue it on. Ours is quite bad but I used that Gummi Plege (rubber conditioner) and it holding in tact at the moment. I daub a bit on every time I remember to seems to soften it up a bit and stops bits flaking off.

Finding a new one would clearly be a nicer solution, good luck with the hunt.

That photo was taken about 8 years ago now! Its been the same ever since, and still looks identical I have no worries about it doing its job either! Its just that the looks of the foam make you think its about to fall too pieces!

I think the switch that determines if it's closed is in the latch mechanism at the rear of the door which is tricky to get to. You could try cleaning the metal contacts as it can't hurt.

As expected, George at Bongo Spares only has ones in similar condition.
Time to see what can be substituted...

I took mouse mat neoprene foam type rubber and cut to outline with modelling knife after removing mat surface. Contact glued two layers of that with evostick then contact hlued the lot in place. That was 8 years ago and its bern perfect ever since - no moisture or corrosion on my contact pins and looks 100% smart. Quick job too.
