Has any one used a Pela type vacuum pump to extract the old oil from an auto gearbox?

I used a cheapo syringe type extractor. Worked fine. Think ATF is thinner than engine oil.
Bit over 4 litres to extract.

Have you checked .. some boxes have a sump drain plug .. my 1998 V6 has ..
Saying that .. it's far better removing the sump .. cleaning it .. and the magnet .. then removing the valve block filter and cleaning that as well (I put mine in the dishwasher) ..
Also remember when you have done all that .. refilled with Derron3 .. you have only changed around half of the fluid in the system ... the other half of the the mucky fluid is still in the toque converter ..!!

I removed the oil using a Pela before dropping the sump. Certainly made the sump removal a lot easier and cleaner!
It does take a while but so easy! I researched the different ones as the Pela is expensive however glad I spent the money on a proper one now I have it. I hope it is there and working in my garage for many years.

I think that's a typo - it should read Dexron 3 or similar, these 'boxes are not fussy, just use a good quality oil not Comma c##p or stores own brand.
Also is using a Pela or other vacuum removal pump, do it when the oil is hot, it will then come out much quicker.

Oh dear,

I had no idea Comma was that "good"

In my defence it was the only ATF in a large container in the Halfords I called in on but what a waste of good money. Another ATF change? How soon?
