Winter Pack Removal

Sorry for starting another thread (again). I have checked and again can't find the answers I need.

I need 2 sections of exhaust replacing, so am taking the opportunity to take out the winter pack. I'm giving this to a garage to do (or at least the exhaust) so want to disable the winter pack first, so they can just remove it and fit the 3 part exhaust. I've seen talk about blanking off the vacuum but not where best to do that or with what.

Can anyone that has done this recommend best procedure and what to blank the vacuum off with (as I'll be ordering it in, as don't have many of those "useful spares").

Thanks as always!

Vacuum pipe comes from a feed at the front o/s of the engine, but if I recall correctly, it is easier to access from the passy side. In the picture below (taken from underneath looking upwards, with a few bits removed) the metal vacuum pipe runs vertically. Near the top you can see a rubber pipe tee off rightwards then loop back leftwards. Originally it feeds the cold weather exhaust valve by coming across the front of the engine to a metal pipe which runs rearwards towards the cold weather exhaust kit.

I didn't have the problem of blocking it off because I needed the vacuum feed for something else. I believe Bongos without the cold weather kit have a rubber cap over the Tee at the front of the engine. Not sure if these are available off the shelf.

Thanks very much for the pointers. I thought this was quite a common removal but perhaps not! I'll see what the garage suggest, perhaps they will be happy blanking it off.

Instead of trying to blank off the Tee at the front of the engine, you could plug the end of the rubber vacuum pipe. A quick search on ebay for "vacuum hose bung" brings up plenty of options - pick your colour  .

Oh thanks very much, do we know what size hose it is?
