Bongo Fury

just got my Bongo back from it's MOT. Some welding needed and brake callipers replaced, still, not bad for a twenty year old vehicle!
The only thing is that the glow plug light is flashing. The garage is mystified (a touch of Bongophobia). I looked in the site archives but, not being very technically minded, I'm a little unsure as to what line to pursue.
I know that it means that there could be a problem with the engine or it could be the split relay between the two batteries. Any suggestions, bearing in mind that your explaining to a virtual 10 year old, gratefully sought!
Ps: The van is running fine!

If you have a LB then it could be as simple as the LB being flat and not supplying the ECU with its backup power supply which comes from the top left fuse which is normally moved across to the LB as it supplied all unswitched supplies.

Exactly the same thing happened to me after a bit of work in the garage. It was the LB that was low - charged it and all good afterwards.

It's not unheard of for arc/MIG welding to fry sensitive electronic devices. If it was fine when it went in then it's not unreasonable to expect the garage to resolve the problem for you.

Thanks to all the above for your responses. I've checked the LB and it's pretty well charged up. I've looked at the relevant factsheet and located the diagnostic box. I'll have to find someone who is more savvy with auto electrics to help me out on this one.
Don't know what I'd do without forum help!

It might be worthwhile disconnecting the batteries (remember radio code if appropriate) switching on all power switches ..lights etc ,press and hold the brake pedal for a couple of minutes.

Switch off all lights etc and reconnect the battery and start the engine.

The orange glowplug light on the dashboard continually flashes even though nothing seems amiss. Grateful to anyone who knows whats going on

I'd forgotten about the previous glow plug light problem until you reminded me. I believe that it was a problem with a fuse that time. I've checked the fuses again and cannot find anything amiss.

I've just carried out disconnecting and reconnecting both batteries. Unfortunately, she won't start now. The dashboards dead and the gearstick is stuck in 'P'. God knows what I've done! As usual, suggestions appreciated.

check the 100amp fuse, its the big un thats bolted in with a 10mm spanner sized bolt, see if thats gone.

I checked 100A fuse. It was fine. After much head scratching my son in law found an errant lead behind the fuses and told me that it was a direct feed from the radio. He plugged it back into the fuse board then tightened all connections to both batteries. You've guessed it, the flashing glow plug light stopped flashing and the van started first time.
