Bongo Fury

I don't use the Bongo every day but was in it as a passenger today for about an hour.

This gave me time to realise that the heating doesn't seem to be working properly.

I'm only looking at the front heating at the moment, but if I put it on 32*C then hot air comes shooting out but if you lower it to 31.5*C or lower then it is just barely warm air that comes out. If I lower it down to 19 the temperature of the air feels the same, if I go to 18*C then it feels a little cooler.

So the only way to heat up the bongo is it to put it on full heat for a bit then knock it back. Then put it back to full heat etc.

I presume it is the sensor that is at fault? Does this sound right? If so is it located just above the passengers right knee?

Or is it something else?

Several people have reported this problem on FB, but no clear reason has come out as to what is going on, sensors cleaned etc. so no cure identified ???

Is the sensor the thing behind the little grille to the right of the passengers right knee?

I think the heating is working as designed.....If you select Auto then you get variable temperature air out of the vents and you can adjust temp up and down. But as soon as you change any other settings or switch off Auto then the dash vents only blow air at outside temp. See below from earlier threads

"I think there may be good news and bad news here - the good news is that it may be working as designed, the bad news is that "as designed" may not be what you want..... As I understand it from a careful read of the handbook and backed up by experiments in a 1995 2.5 diesel, the system seems to work like this -

There are 2 modes - Auto and Manual. Auto is activated by pushing the Auto button and controls the fan speed and temperature of the air outlets to maintain the overall cabin temp. In mine, it switches the outlets to feed and screen. If you now press any of the controls (except the temp up/down control) the system drops back to Manual. You can now control the fan speed and temp manually but critically, the dash vents if turned on ALWAYS blow air at outside temp. So you can have toasty feet and cool air in your face.

I have not found a way on Auto to get the dash vents to blow hot.
