Crank & Camshaft Seals - Garage can only replace Front

Hi all,

I'm having my newly imported Bongo serviced plus cambelt change by Hallen Imports. After reading advice on here, I've requested that they change the crank and camshaft oils but they have reported that they can only change the front and not the rear. Do you think it's essential to have the rear changed too?

Some info on the Bongo:
1997
29,000 miles
1 Owner

Thanks very much for any help here :)

Steve

It should be possible to get the dimensions and find a supplier to provide one of the correct size. This happened at a garage I was talking to recently where they were working on a V6 & they could only one of the two size of oil seals. They simply phoned around until the found one with the same dimensions.

Alternatively, you may be ok by just changing the front one as you don't want that leaking all over your new cambelt. If it were me, I'd try to get the rear one changed in light of the very low mileage which could indicate it was not used on a regular basis so the rubber is more likely to have hardened up.
