Genuine Parts or Not

Hello Bongo friends,

I'm just about to have a heap of work carried out on my newly imported Bongo including:

- Cambelt, hydraulic tensioners & water pump
- Full service
- Change crankshaft & camshaft seals
- New spark plugs
- Air & fuel filter
- Flush & refill antifreeze
- Air conditioning inspection and re-gas

Hallen Imports is carrying out the work and have stated the parts they have on file are not genuine Mazda parts as they have over inflated prices. I guess this is the same situation for most garages.

I was just wondering if anyone recommends using genuine Mazda parts for any of the above?

Thanks very much as always :)
Steve

I'm guessing this a V6 as it has a hydraulic tensioner? That's probably the only thing on the list that are Mazda-only parts. Things like spark plugs & filters are made by OEM manufacturers such as Denso & you can readily but these or similar from any motor factors. Cambelt will also not be made by Mazda but more than likely produced by someone like Blueprint or Gates. As long as you stick with decent brands I don't think you have much to worry about.

Also consider adding distributor cap, rotor arm & all 7 HT leads to your list. After up to 19 years use, these will be past their prime & could result in poor starting & running.

Does the full service include new ATF, brake fluid & rear diff oil? All have recommended service intervals.
