Charging while driving

Hi,

My new Bongo has a PMS3H control unit. It has 3 settings, car, caravan, and off. I wasn't sure if this has a split charger or not. I started the engine today and put the control unit on. I got a symbol that looked like 2 batteries (this symbol is not there when the engine is off) which makes me think it is charging via engine. What I was wondering is will it charge when the unit is off too or does the PMS3 have to be on to charge?

Thanks. I'm all new to this electric in a camper lark :-)

Matt

thanks, so i guess it has to be on to charge. Slightly confused as it says it's recommended to be off when driving... wish they would have said in the manual.... recommended to be off, unless you wish to charge...

Thank for you help.

Matt

The PMS3 only handles charging from the EHU itself. It plays no part in charging from the alternator at all. If you have a Split Charge Relay fitted normally under the bonnet this handles charging from the alternator when driving and isolating from the SB when the vehicle is stationery.
