Everything stopped working

I have just been to the car wash for a quick clean before Christmas. Bongo started first time as always and I stopped the engine while the men washed away. When asked to moved forward I turned the ignition and ... nothing. No power at all, no lights and nothing happened when I turned the key. I tried a couple of times but everything seemed dead. The man doing the cleaning suggested I get out and lock and unlock the central locking with the key fob. Success everything was working again. He said that another customer (not in a Bongo) had the same problem recently and this also worked - any ideas? I was as if the car was immobilised :?:

Did they use a jet wash?

Possibly water driven into somewhere it don't belong?

It probably was immobilised if you left the ignition on/or unlocked without the engine running after 5 minutes most systems will lock down.
We've managed to do this a couple of times, usually when loading the van or talking to someone, unlock van, start talking then jump in and no power!
Edna actually managed to call the AA once at Phil's, I walked up a couple of minutes later, locked the van and re-opened all was fine, fortunately AA rang back at that point and we put them off!

Thanks Geoff - that is exactly what happened to me. I probably left the ignition on without the engine running while waiting to move forward. Worth knowing as I was just about to ring the AA.
