Bongo Fury

My bongo had a triple spigot out of the head, my new head came with a double spigot as shown in the lush projects diagram http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html

One to the thermostat one to the bleed hose, the other to.......oooops. Turbo?

Can't get the old one out, do I need to source a new 3 way spigot????

you can get the same outcome ------ fit a bleed pipe, by inserting a small t piece into the short turbo pipe, then fitting the bleed pipe to the t piece.

it may need bleeding afterwards as air entering the head when the pipe is cut will need to be removed. take care.


the old one is hard to remove from the old head. you can order one from mazda or heat up the old head then use a freeze spray on the fitting. fitting to the new head is the same method.

Thought of that but I am a bit concerned that inserting a Tee piece will reduce the bore of the water feed to the turbo, and the last thing I want is to introduce another problem! I cannot find a metal T and plastic ones with an external 9mm bore to fit in the pipe will have internal bore down to probably 5 - 6 mm and this would seriously limit the flow.

Has anyone done this in the past? Is it OK to do this?

ive done a few. i wont say its the best option, but its the cheapest.

Why not give one of the Bongo specialists a quick ring for advice. Adrian at JapanDirect in Bury, who does my Bongo work, has done many Bongo heads in his time (including mine) and may well have tackled this problem before. He's usually pretty good about helping out a Bongo owner if they are really stuck. His phone number is 0161-763-3003. Tell him Mike O'Neill suggested you call, so he can tear me off a strip if need be next time I see him

thats the type of thing i mean, just watch those jubilee clips for leaking though mate, it gets a tad hot round there.
any little leak around here may not let coolant out, but may let air into the system as the system cools and contracts, this will then go to the highest point in the engine area, ----- the head.

better to fit these clips as they constantly adjust during heat expansion and contraction, especially in winter as the difference between hot and really cold is greater.

Drilled out the new spigot and welded in a custom made pipe end in the right place, didn't fancy having a bleed point at anything but the highest point!
