Tan Hill Inn Highest Pub

Our previous trip in February a few years ago.
A few of us decided over the weekend at Silverdale to visit the Tanhill Inn staying overnight on Saturday 14th November.
Loos are available but it's basically wild camping, no showers or hook ups.
Cost is now £5 per night per person which goes to charity. Breakfast is also available in the pub if required at a cost of £8 each.
So far there are about five or six vans going so we can have a good night in the pub with some food if you want to.
I've just spoken to them and they are OK with this but could do with knowing how many will turn up so please post on here if you are interested and I can let them know.
Perhaps even get to see the Northern Lights if we are lucky.

What fun we had doing a gig for a Bongo meet there some years back. They had to chase mother goose and the goslings out of the barn before we could set up, then sluice out the goose sh*t. But it was perfect summer on that occasion. I recall the Tan Hill having a tracked vehicle for getting supplies in when the snow hits.
I'd love to do this one but 2WD and lack of diesel heater make me wary, though I'll check with Trish. But hope you guys have a really great time - should be serious fun.

This one Mike (a Hägglunds Bv206 the same as Bay Search & Rescue have at Flookburgh) - but it wasn't there last time I went.
Fear not - we're now only 2WD and we shall endeavour to be there - with gloves & bobblehat

I'll see if I can persuade Trish. We'll only have to brave the cold for sleeping as we can have a warm evening in the pub. Sleeping bags inside duvets should do it

I'd love to join you but it's a bit too soon for me with Tonto/Tintin. A long way for me for a weekend too. D'oh! I really want to. Pencil me in for now.

Depends on the weather on the day Brian. Although I have a winterised motorhome and a gas boiler I have only 2WD and no snow chains or snow socks. On the plus side the moors are open with no bushes and trees on the narrow roads to scratch my motorhomes bodywork as they did at Dent last year. Also June's mum died on Wednesday so we will have to see how the money pans out.
PS: Do you still get your bum pinched at the Tan Hill pub?

Hope you can make it Tony, unless there's lots of snow I'm sure you will be OK. If not we'll come and tow you.
Sorry to hear about Junes mum. Please pass on our condolences.
Not sure about the bum pinching. Were you p****d at the time.

It was the pub landlady when I was last there. She was well known for it.

Bums, Ruca would have loved it, the wilderness (it's properly in the middle of nowheresville) and the loose sheep & ducks to chase around - see a picture gallery from a while back for anyone interested...
