Most car manuals say to disconnect the battery and leave for a period of time to dissipate the circuitry, I would imagine that the Bongo is similar in the respect that most cars have impact sensors in the front members / crumple zones that will be linked directly to the airbag unit. So take care! You may need to chase the airbag wiring circuit and isolate it after removal to prevent problems occuring later.

DD,
Have you got a death wish?
Most people would give their eye teeth (let alone an intact sternum!!) for an airbag and you are DOING AWAY WITH IT???????????????????

Be VERY careful with live airbags - garages have to have a firearms certificate and a bomb proof storage facility to stock them..........

Well said Colin. I paid an arm and a leg (!) for my New Shape solely so I could have two air-bags. This because one of these devices saved the life of a friend.

I have an MX5 steering wheel fitted .I think that it looks the biz The leather is comfy in cold weather and gives a good grip - - but - - if I could have converted it to an airbag 'boring 'wheel I would have done so .
But - - its your call
Saw Madness /Selector etc on their big tour when they hit Glasgow - think it was in 1979? Brill!!
