Bongo Fury

I've managed to narrow down my abs warning light to Fault code 11. I removed the drivers side battery and the tray in sits in to get to the connector for the cable that runs down to the sensor. I connected a multimeter to the pins on the inside of the connector on ohms. Nothing, it didn't register anything. Tried again several times to make sure I was getting a proper contact, nothing each time. Tested the multimeter somewhere else to check it's working and got a resistance reading. I'm going to change the battery in the multimeter and try again. If that results in a zero also what next? Is the cable replacable ? I can't see a way it could come away from the sensor at the wheel. There's no obvious external signs of wear on the outer covering of the cable, I have checked under the bracket that holds it to the body work. Any ideas how to preceed ?? Thanks in advance

The the specified parameters for normal resistance should be around 1600 to 1640 ohms ..

As you have no continuity sounds as if there is a break in the wires or a faulty wheel sensor ..

Sensors are available .. but the old ones tend to corrode / seize into the holder .. so maybe better get a good .. complete second hand unit ..

Thanks Mike, I might cut the cable a few inches from the connector and test again with the new battery in the multimeter. I read in a post that one Bongo owners problem was the actual connector. Once cleaned and reconnected the abs light went off. I'm clutching at straws hoping its not the sensor.

That sounds like my old post .. an unscrupulous dealer had removed the ABS bulb in mine (which is now an MOT failure) ..

The hardest part was sussing out the problem .. checked the ABS sencors .. all OK .. put a direct 12v feed to the pump ..that fired up ..

It was more by more by luck than judgement that we found a poorly fitted multi pin connection by the ABS pump .. cleaned / sprayed with switch cleaner .. firmly 'clicked in' .. been OK ever since ..

Thanks Mike, intresting stuff, where is the pump situated ? I will try the 12V direct feed just to eliminate it from the equation and have a look at the multi pin connector too.

It's in the square valve block with all the pipes .. situated low down on the N/S ..
