crank shaft locking?

HI everyone,The new crankshaft pulley I ordered from autojapspares arrived yesterday,great service,the problem a have now is how to lock the crankshaft.In the service manual it mentions a "crankshaft locking tool", done a quick internet search, can't see any....any advice....many thanks.....Paul

Have a search, as this has been discussed before. I think it was Northernbongo that has fabricated his own. This is another reason why I gave it to someone else to do!

Hi,you actually lock the flywheel to remove the CS pulley.The locking tool PN is ...

SST 49 E011 1A0

Tight fitting socket .. breaker bar plus scaffold tube jammed against something really solid ie:- concrete floor ..

Disconnect ignition or fuel supply .. quickly flicking the starter to 'bounce' the engine over 'may' crack the nut to release it ..

It may be that the nut as been 'loctited' .. in which case it may need heating up to 'melt' it ..

if you scroll down on this link it shows what i made, it was bloody tight. you may be able to get by with a lot less though.

the pulley has 2 bolt holes in the front face, fit 2 good bolts then put something across/between, then try to get at the main bolt in the center, it is standard thread, anti clockwise to loosen. ------ be careful. a good quality air gun for removing wheel nuts may be the way if you can get hold of one, but there isnt a lot of room. #-o #-o .
