Bongo Fury

I was given a camping stove a good few years back.

It is a Tilley with a dual burner and a grill. We would like to use it as an outdoor kitchen whilst we are away for cooking the smellier things whilst we are away.

I have purchased a campingaz regulator for it so I can use the bottle we have in the Bongo. The regulator came with a length of hose attached. My problem is that the camping stove just has a threaded connection. So I need a little brass adapter to screw on and give a barb to put the hose on.

Where do I get one of these at short notice?

I don't really like to bodge things that involve gas but I have a compressor and notice that the airline fittings are the same size thread - can these be used at all with gas - or is that a big NO?!

Try poking around Fle Bay and Amazon, otherwise the larger camping stoes or John Stayte the Calor supplier.

You should hit lucky.

Edit: Try a PM to Gasy if he doesn't show later.

You should be able to get a fitting to connect to it from plumbers merchants
Or from someone like a calor gas showroom
Don't forget a washer / o ring or sealing paste / gas ptfe tape
Put a piccy up I will see if I can help ( with something so I can get size )
Might be worth contact / searching Tilley for size / threads etc

You need to get some more info on your cooker
As some of them old ones were high pressure cookers and were run straight of the bottle with no regulator

I managed to sort it, took the stove and the regulator down to a local caravan place - felt slightly ripped off at £4 for a tiny brass adapter but it is all sorted now! I used PTFE tape and tested for leaks.

It all works well.

Just about ready with everything now for our adventure!

Its called a hose tail
£4 isn't cheap but it is when you cant find one.
The old tilley stoves are very well made and should last forever.

Hope you wound the ptfe on the correct way
Just remember to check it for leaks once in a while
I always carry a small spray bottle of leak detector fluid
But half the time carnt be bothered to fetch it out of the front of van
And just run me lighter flame over connections ( NOT RECOMENDED you have to be a trained certificated gas engineer for this method )

Wound the PTFE tape on the same way as I tighten the but on is that correct?

Yes, if you hold the fitting in your left hand and wind the tape clockwise ( obviously on to the male thread) it will tighten as you screw in the adaptor.
