Bongo Fury

Hi All,
Loving my new bongo adventures.
I have noticed the last couple of days a small puddle on the drivers side right near the gap for the door.
I have noticed when i put my hand underneath this is also damp. Directly above this area is the sink and water bottles. These areas inside seem to be dry.
Any ideas where this could be coming from?

If its not sink/water bottle related, it might well be related to the rear heater and the coolant system pipes connecting to it as the metal ones corrode and give out eventually (assuming rear heater not been removed as part of the conversion). Alternatively, one false alarm can be if the aircon has been in use, as condensation can drip and fall to ground around this area.

I am having my air-conditioning serviced and recharged tomorrow as it seems empty. So hasn't been on.

The rear heaters are still in place. So I suppose I should look at how to get to them and check them out for any sign of corrosion

the pipe works on view under the motor,might need plastic liner removing to see

How old is the Bongo? Mine is a 95 model and rear heater pipe gave up last year. Do you have a low coolant alarm (you should have if not ). Check header tank coolant level very regularly if not as you don't want to suffer the cost and consequences of an overheated engine due to coolant loss.

The Bongo is 1997.
The coolant seems ok. Its 3/4 full and i am checking regularly.
I haven't an alarm fitted yet, only owned for a month.
I originally didn't put it down to coolant leak because of the location, so never thought of that.
Will keep checking and making a note of levels.

My pleasure, but I would fit an lca without delay - 97 model is definitely in the danger zone for leaks!

Coolant level should be roughly mid way between low and high markers on header tank when engine is cold.

A Bongo's decision to spring a leak is not conditional on regular visual inspection of the level.

You need to know the instant the coolant level starts dropping. A split bottom hose can dump the entire contents very quickly.

I was lucky, I smelled coolant vapour and knew straight away what it was. I topped up and nursed it home and fitted an alarm ready for the big leak.

Someone needs to market a cam belt alarm for total peace of mind!
