Mazda bongo doesn't start HELP PLEASE

Hi
I purchased a 1996 2.5 litre AWD bongo end of last year. It has been fine for months. Recently, even though the roof was working fine, the roof light on the dashboard remained on even when closed. It was not flashing.

Today, I used it and a beep started whilst I was driving which would only stop after turning off the engine. The same non flashing roof light was the only light on. It was otherwise driving fine.

I then tried to drive it again today, and now when I turn the key, no dash board lights come on at all, I cannot start the engine at all. It is not ticking over. Both the car and leisure batteries are charged ( I tried jumping with no effect).

Does anyone have an idea what the fault could be? I am wondering whether it is electrical?

Thanks

Delroze

Could be one of several fuses, check to see if the Headlights work with the Flash arm, if so then the battery is indeed fine. Then check the fuses as follows;
Engine & starter fuses

Ignition Key fuse

Main 100Amp (needs to be unbolted to remove)

Whereabouts are you. Its probably something easy enough for a mechanic to diagnose, if we can find a suitable one nearby to you.

Thanks Geoff
The headlights do work. I will have a look at the fuses after I've put my 7 month old to bed
Thanks again

Thanks mike
I live near bicester, oxfordshire. In case I cannot fix it myself, I would appreciate knowing of a local mechanic you could recommend.

Hmmm. Nearest specialist I can think of is discount trucks in Newbury but really any good local mechanic/autoelectrician should be able to identify the fault. But if it's linked to the roof, you could use a specialist. Good luck, keep us posted.
