Using marquee at the Bash

Post by bongobaz » Tue Jun 30, 2015 8:49 am

The marquee at the bash costs us a lot of money and is seriously under used.
this year we did a bit better (disco, band, knit n natter, Macrame, tatting, craft fair and Ukelele).
However most of the time it lies empty.
Do you have any ideas as to how we could make it more of a communal area to get best value for OUR money.
Always be ready for a Top Up!

I did get a few comments on the lines "I thought something was on, but couldn't see anything"

I don't know if there is a better location for the marquee, as you guys done it for a few years now.

Location is down to power points and keeping band away from the statics.

Maybe a picnic lunch and kiddies games?

Knitters could come, too. This is very popular.

Maybe Bongo maintenance masterclasses which I think have happened previously, outside the marquee or inside if it's wet, there are a lot of newbies who would probably like to learn from the experts

I've also wondered about having a couple of Portaloos near it, but that costs too.

An itinerary, by reception. And another by toilets?

Ian had a board for it, unfortunately was broken this year.

You stop chat and before you know it, and miss out on something.

A school bell or chime? 5 min before something is going to start. I misplaced my printouts on day 1

i get what you mean baz but had the weather been bad then im sure the marquee would have been well used. roll up sides on one side would have helped, it may have helped us see the DJ too, and him see the crowd.
