Aftermarket Portable Solar Panel....

Dear All
I've been thinking about re-charging the LB whilst "off-grid" and have a got a fold up solar panel rated at 27w and a regulator but need to know from the experts if it's OK just to plug the regulator output straight into the one of the 12v cigar lighter sockets that is permanently connected to the LB?
The regulator puts out about 14v when not connected to the battery but of course this measurement drops to the 12-12.5v when connected to the LB via the cigar lighter socket. Is this normal and OK? and is it likely to actually charge/top-up the LB when connected this way?
I only ask as I don't want to do any damage to the LB.
Many thanks in anticipation.
