Bongo Fury

Hi,

The front passenger window has decided to stop working, it refuses to work when using either the driver side or passenger side switch.

I've checked the motor and that's fine, so my next thought would be the switch but do any of you know if having a faulty switch on one of the sides would stop it working completely!?

The most frequent problem is the LOCK switch on the drivers side having been accidentally operated ??
The next most common problem is the wiring loom between the drivers door and the chassis, the wires break due to twisting on the lower hinge.
Yes a break or faulty switch will cause both switches to not work.

Just had exactly this problem - windows stopped working, a few months after one of the mirrors stopped self-retracting. Loads of the wires in that loom had severed and I had to replace the whole thing (which wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do).

Peel off the tape wrapped around the loom in the door hinge and take a look...

Very common problem.

Cut back to clean wire and insert an inch or so extra rather than just joining the ends.

It's never the simplest solution you go looking for is it!!! Because the driver side window still worked it didn't cross my mind that the lock would only stop the passenger side. (should have done considering most cars I've had in recent years have worked like that!)

Don't worry plenty of good tasting Plums around! There are several gotchas like that in a Bongo!

The passenger window switches, on either door, can get broken due to people heaving hard on them in an attempt to make them work when the lock switch is on. This breaks the plastic 'axle' about which the rocker rotates and allows the lever connecting to the switch to become dislodged. The actual switch is of course a slider below but it doesn't respond well to a sloppy rocker mechanism and can move out of position. The opposite switch must always be exactly in 'neutral' for the other to work.
