Wild camping on Skye

Hi, we will be heading up to Skye next week for our first outing longer than one night. Never been to Skye before so looking for some suggestions for wild camping spots, the only catch is it has to be somewhere suitable (ideally with nice views) for putting a large awning up so some nice flat grass or soft ground. Would really prefer to avoid proper campsites.

Any suggestions appreciated.

We use several places but none suitable for "staying" with an awning, most Wild Camping is overnight and minimum impact!

Should have said wouldn't ideally be staying in the same place every night, would like to try different places.

I wouldn't advise anything other than a small windout awning in either location however, they are Wild camps not sites, you would be likely to generate a bit too much attention with a pegged out awning!

Not quite free, but we stayed here & you can wander over the road to warm up & get a meal in the hotel: http://www.sligachan.co.uk/sligachan-campsite.php

Our thoughts as well, though everytime we're on Skye we end up at Glen Brittle campsite

It's where Danny Macaskill done his front flip when making 'The Ridge'

Thanks for the suggestions, It's not really about the money, im just not a proper campsite person. The problem is I really need the extra space with the awning for extra storage (we have a 2 year old with us). This will be my first time away with an awning.
The Glen Brittle Site is looking appealing though, doesent seem to 'campsitey' but would probably just stay put once there.

Just thought id update, stayed at the sligachan campsite in the end, wasn't worth the hassle of moving around with the awning. Very basic which is what i was looking for, only problem was the disgusting smell of chemical toilets coming from the toilet/shower block with people emptying their toilets down the pans & leaving it splattered everywhere. The site clearly has signs up everywhere saying they do not have facilities for chemical toilet disposal.

Sorry to hear your stay was marred by a few ignorant folk. Hope the weather was better than when we stayed in 2013. We stopped over on the way to Uig to get the ferry to Harris.
