Flip Down TV

Hi,

Do you think it's possible to mount a flip down TV like the one in the link below on the hatch door:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-In-Car-Fli ... 2c7287da58

I'm sure the fitting could be done, but I'm wondering if taking the the wiring through at the hinged end would stand up to being opened and closed?

Any thoughts you have are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

Not sure about the flex on the cables, but I managed a 19incher on the roof lining between the front seats.
As we have a mid conversion, sitting at the rear of the van, it's like being at the cinema :-)

Roy,

Thanks for the reply, can you describe what you bought and how you did it? Perhaps a photo maybe? 19" sounds quite big?

We have a portable DVD with 2 screens at the moment - but to be honest it's a bit naf. I'd like to improve the kids viewing experience a little on the long journeys down to Cornwall and Devon.

Thanks again for the reply.

Ian

Hya,
Yeah I bought an eonon direct from honk kong £135.00 plus 60+ import duty etc.
I have a 2001 with aft, so basically I lifted the roof, lifted the mattress support and drilled directly through the roof and the headlining. I then used 6mm x 75mm bolts with 50mm dia washers. Securing the bolts to the roof, I effectively then had four threaded shafts hanging through the headlining. I then (by trial and error) locked the mounting plate to the threaded shafts and once I was happy, locked it in place and trimmed off the excess thread.
Bolted on the tv, plumbed it in & away you go.
Don't think it would work during travel, as once flipped down it would severely hamper visibility for the driver (also not legal).
I'll post some piccies when I get the hang of it :-)
Cheers
Roy

Hi Roy,

I never thought about mounting it in the cab area, but I do want it of the kids to watch so I could do with finding a way of mounting it further back.

Are Eonon products any good? I have looked at those and read differing reports about quality etc.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply

That's the exact same TV as mine, Are you only going to be watching it with the tailgate open ??.
I fitted mine on the roof at the back with the screen facing the front as I have reversed my middle seats.

On the point of Eonon quality, I've committed to the full set, so ask me again in a year or so!
I've gone for the double din, separate dtv box & the flip down. Working fine so far - but 3 remotes is a tad ridiculous.

Coupled with the standard bongo sound system, sitting in "the back row" works fab.
