Bongo Fury

have read forum and tech sheets, my problem is the gauge is at 11 o'clock and will not drop when powered down. Is this an earth problem, before i get down and dirty?

The fuel gauge will show the level even with the ignition off. It only moves when the ign is on, then stops where it is when the ign is turned off.

Does it drop below 11 o'clock as the fuel level falls whilst driving...and does it rise slowly above 11 o'clock after leaving the petrol station? If it does, it's normal..if it's stuck at 11 regardless of fuel level I'd remove the fuel sender to see what's going on..

Thanks Ant, to be honest i had'nt noticed it stay at a level before and thought i may have another to do one weekend! will monitor

Hi silage, we had the same problem last month? I earthed the tank to the chassis and no joy? I took the carpets up behind driver seat and got to the sender(grimed up), gave it some wd40 and a good clean, not had a problem since then matey

Hi. I bought mine with the same problem. To test the earth without drilling any holes I used a jump lead. Just make sure you are on bare metal. If that works then you know it worth getting the drill out.

Hi, when I earthed my tank I didn't need to drill holes as they are pre drilled when manufactured,18" length of Earth cable and some washers nuts and bolts will suffice

Seconded. If working through the hatch in the floor behind the drivers seat, all earthing (sender and tank) can be done using existing connector and screws.

I was hoping i could get some advice on whether or not there is something wrong with the fuel gauge on my Bongo.

When i add fuel it moves up in the right direction and as i use the fuel it gradually (or not that gradually really) starts to drop down again so the gauge seems to work fine. The problem i have is that when i turn the ignition off the gauge stays at whatever level it was at - It doesn't drop back down to zero.

Is this normal with Bongos? I guess as long as it serves its purpose in telling when how much fuel i have then it's all good but i was just a little disconcerted when i noticed this behaviour.

Yes they are all like that ..

It's the Japanese way of letting car robbers now if there is enough fuel in to make it worth while pinching it ..!!
