Will a Mazda 6 steering wheel fit?
Going to install cc, and it'd be perfect. Maybe also able to use volume controls for radio I have fitted, but that isn't important.

It'll fit but you'll have to mod the collar that does the indicator self cancelling and you'll have to figure out how to make the twin airbag wheel work with the Bongos single airbag setup. You'll also need to get the corresponding clock spring / squib unit with an offcut of the M6 wiring loom so you can make it all work. It's on my 'to do' list although at least I've got all the bits in stock now

.
If you're using it with Waeco MS50 CC unit you'll need to wire the steering wheel switches in parallel with the existing switch unit as it has a couple of surface mount resistors on the PCB to get all the different functions down a couple of wires.

i don't have an airbag, not an issue, and looming in the steering wheel to the CC will be a multi meter job. Not too hard.
what sort of mod needed to the indicator canceller?

You need to cut both collars in two and splice the M6 top to the Bongo bottom section. Somewhere on the forum there should be some photos I believe. Definitely let insurance co. know as it is a modification.

there were enough spare wires on the clock spring loom that were not in use, when i destroyed musses clock spring the other week. could these be of use for the radio/cruise functions simon.

will I need mazda 6 squib to allow the cables on the steering wheel to not snap?
I've messaged spencer about his conversion.

Ideally you need wheel, airbag, squib and indicator stalks (for the collar) + few inches of the wiring loom to splice into. I think I paid about £40 for the lot from a breaker on eBay.

Why do you need the squid, looks like it's a straight swap out for the steering wheel?
The only thing I'm worried about is the amount of wiring for the revelations of the steering wheel.
And if there is enough space to Rap around the column so you don't snag the wires or snap them.
My bongo is the early shape with no airbag .

No fish required

but you will need the squib/clock spring as that is what carries the signal from the wheel to the wiring via a series of circular contacts (there are no wires connecting the wheel to the vehicle). You may be able to re-use the existing Bongo one but I doubt the connector will fit the back of the wheel or have sufficient capacity for the CC switches.

from that post you linked, the squib has a ribbon inside in a coil setup.
Take it the squib has nothing to do with the storks? and will bolt straight on?
Might put it off till after the bongo bash, and you can tell me all about it over a southern comfort

I think that was NB's link which shows a multiway ribbon cable wound like a spring. The M6 version has more strands to carry the connections required for CC and audio controls, horn and airbag (8 in total).

Hi if you want the multi-function part of the wheel to work then you'll need a squib.
As you have a non airbag model you have none to start with.
Best bet is to not modify the Bongo, but modify the wheel itself to fit the indicator canceling forks.
So cut two slots in the back of the steering wheel.
If you want it all to work ala Mazda6 then you'll need the squib/clock spring.
It will fit as it has the space for it all.
Hope that helps
