Its the 2.5 diesel 96 upwards thanks ...sorry should have mentioned that.

You will find it a lot easier to remove the whole thermostat housing from the block...
this will allow you to replace the thermostat a lot easier than from below.
Only additional thing is a gasket tstat housing to block....available from Ford dealers.
