Bought our wagon in November with a good side conversion already in place. Now looking to tinker a little to make it ours.

Water supply:

At The moment it's got an external whale water supply which means we need to stop and have the container outside. Doesn't really suit us and I'd rather have a smaller container inside. Can I just use
Something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHALE-12V-DC- ... 4ae7e0600c and rewire from the tap switch and the 12v leisure supply? I reckon I can get a slimline 10l container. That will do us fine. Waste water goes through a pipe to drop underneath.



TV:

12v TV currently runs off a the cigarette lighter so is running the starter battery. Always a bit nervous and the TV has a voltage warning which stops if it thinks the battery is draining, as. A result it's rarely good enough for a whole film. Starter battery has always been fine though. I've got a switched 12v live from the leisure battery tucked in one of the cupboards. Can I fit a junction box then simply cut the end off the cigarette lighter connection and wire it into the junction box?

I'll try and add photos tomorrow. So far I've switched the normal alloys for rx8s and got a set of toyo r37 tyres off an outlander 4x4 which are working brilliantly. In for an early mot and service soon before a euro trip so starting to feel like ours might go for a plastidip respray or use the cheap place in glasgow which offers £400 re sprays ( after checking them out in)

its cheaper, sorry that will be perfectly adequate. check diameter of bottle first some are too narrow for pump.

don't cut plug off, just wire a separate socket eg into /onto the kitchen.
both can then be use for any reason.

As mentioned, you'll need to check that the pump can fit in the neck of the 10l container.

Assuming the pump fits, if the container only has one inlet then you'll have to consider how you'll achieve a good seal around the electric cable and water pipe to keep the water in when travelling and keep any contamination out.

Assuming you've made a good seal, you'll need to ensure you can remove it on a frequent basis to fill up possibly with the electric cable and water pipe still obstructing the neck if they can't be easily removed.

For what it's worth, as a solo traveller I found a 10l container would last me a day and a half so filling up was pretty much a daily task. Alternatively I'd carry extra 5l bottles of water for drinking which defeated the point of trying to be compact. I've now managed to shoehorn in a 25l water container with a wide neck for filling and another neck for the cable and pipe.

Thanks for the advice, I bought the smaller pump and will now attempt to fit it before friday - off to black forest and italy so need to get finger out! have a loan of a 25l container so will see if it fits. Failing that we'll stick with 10's and refill a lot. Drinking water will be in the fridge anyway

tv - will probably go with the new cigarette lighter but for meantime taking laptop instead which can run off the 300W inverter already connected off leisure battery, might be handy for wi-fi enabled sites.

Stepping 12v DC up to 240v AC via an invertor and then back down to around 19v for a laptop is very inefficient and will waste vital LB power. Much better to get proper DC to DC adaptor and run the laptop direct from 12v.
