I am installing leisure battery but currently have second battery fitted in parallel as van from north Japan. What's best thing to do with positive cable that joins battery I am removing to parallel battery? It disappears into loom and obviously don't want a positive cable floating around by new leisure battery which will be connect to parallel battery via a vsr.

Disconnect the original cable at both ends if possible and replace with the two fused cables feeding into the SPlit Charge Relay.
This is the Starter battery end its the thicker cable coming out from the front - ignore the fusible link annotations!;

I cable-tied old bike tyre over the redundant lead end before wrapping with red insulating tape and strapping out of the way. It was one of my very first Bongo jobs and didn't feel up to delving around in the cable harnesses but perhaps should have! I then followed the split charger directions for wiring the LB.

The tyre idea is the kind of thing I was thinking, not elegant but effective. I suspect the cable runs to alternator or starter after joining loom where it meets cable from other battery I.e. they join at alternator or starter. Just don't fancy unpeeling loom if there is a better way. Obviously cable to non leisure battery from alternator/starter needs to stay and the new leisure battery connect to non leisure battery via VSR.

I also tucked my original 2nd battery live lead out the way
Might come in handy sometime if you get a flat starter batt

Cut the cable, insulate with black tape, push it back into it's plastic trunking, then tape over that too. Job done!

I have the winter pack battery set up, the second battery has failed. When I removed it from bongo, I noticed it is a leisure battery. No split charger !! can I just remove the battery and isolate the cables? I think the faulty battery has drained the main battery which is only weeks old. I seem to have just the radio fit to the rogue battery Any advice gratefully accepted

Yes remove and insulate, although I would remove the link cable from the SB end as well rather than insulate the dangling end myself.

Thank you Geoff Will give that a go, I assume it will run o.k. on one battery

Yes its only helpful in the very cold climate when the capacity of a battery is greatly reduced.
