Green light above rear heating control behind driver seat??

Hi all, I have a green light adjacent to the rear heating control panel under window behind drivers seat? What is the light for?? Sometimes I am driving and my wife notices it is illuminated? Cannot upload a pic, too techie for me, any ideas extremely welcome!! Hoping it's nothing to be worried about

It's to illuminate the controls. Comes on with the sidelights. It tells the people in the back that it's dark outside

Yup, this is correct. I've just spent the journey back this evening wondering what on earth it was for!

Due to the vagaries of bf 'unread posts' flagging, I only just read this humorous retort from scanner, which made me chuckle heartily. Whoops, sorry, we were discussing little green lights.
