Tearing my hair out!

A few weeks ago I developed a knocking sound coming from the front left. So I replaced the drop links. Still there. New anti roll bar bushes and brackets. Still there. All fairly inexpensive items but decided to go for the bottom ball joint so replaced the complete wishbone with ball joint and the other bearings. Guess what? Knocking is still there.

I've been under and all round the front quarter and can't find anything loose that could be causing it. Exhaust is solid with no movement, so what could I be missing?

track rod end maybe, jack it up at the front and grab the nearside front wheel and wobble it, or get under with a bar.check the mounting bolts and rubbers on the steering rack.
check the 3 bolts inside the inner wing at the top of the front strut/leg see if they are good and tight, under that is a swivel bearing which allows it to spin, ive changed a few after they get water in and seize up.
check the spring and mounting, it may have broke.

it doesnt show it in this drawing but in the bit with the 3 studs is a swivel bearing.

the front drop links you fitted were they the correct size bolts, some of the cheaper ones have slightly small diam bolts that hold them on, or if your holes that receive them have worn oval the drop link can move and knock, some even tighten up on the bolt but not tight in the hole as the threaded part is not long enough, again check with a bar when jacked up.

Hi
I agree with Ady...the top mount bearing was the last noise on mine...a gentle thumping feel, and hard to locate. Also, apart from the track-rod end, there is an inner joint on the track rod, under the rack end bellows. It can be replaced without moving the rack , you can feel that if it's worn, by jacking up, and holding the track arm while someone wobbles the steering wheel a bit...I eventually replaced the rack..twice!...the roads are abominable here!...so I use the Jeep , mostly!
Cheers
Helen

Thanks for your help everyone. Had my Bongo for nearly five years and it hasn't missed a beat. Then in the last six weeks or so, everything seems to have gone wrong. Getting expensive as well as infuriating.
