Strange noise 2.0l petrol

Hi all, a strange intermittent noise has developed. It is a bit like a rough bearing sound and can be heard when stationary but gets faster when revved. Can't figure out what it is. Is there bearing in the front pulley or something like that? Anyone had similar?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an alternator idler pulley, remove alt belt and see if it stops, also known for crank pulley failure, damper goes and creates noises .

Would that mean a new alternator? It does sound like alternator speed, if you know what I mean? I had a new alternator 2 year ago.
Trouble is, I was going to have a look when I got home tonight but it stopped about 2 mile from home.

Just the pulley and/or idler I would think.

I'm a painter that just looks like a blurry picture to me
Seriously would the pulley or idler make a loud noise, developed into squeaking noise today, getting worse. Would it be worth changing the belts at the same time? Is it easy enough to do the cam belt? I have basic mechanical knowledge but am keen to give it a go.
I'm going to get underneath tomorrow and try and pin it down.

Been underneath today, looks like alternator tensioner and alternator possibly. both belts and a/c pulley.
Where's cheapest place to source these? need them asap.

squirt water on the belts see if it alters the noise, then try some wd 40 on the tensioner bearings, see if that changes owt.
if nothing changes maybe then its the water pump or alternator bearings.

Before you start to drown and purchase unnecessary parts, I would remove the belts and inspect/test ALL the associated components for wear.
Cant see your video.

The alternator definitely needs sorting.

I did just that Rita, pity you can't view the video, you can see a lot of play on the tensioner pulley, alternator pulley not turning alternator shaft properly and belts worn.
I took it for a run around the block earlier and it's packed in now, not charging and making more noise so need to sort asap. George from Bongo spares hopefully helping out tomorrow with some bits.
Does anyone know how the alternator pulley fastens on? Splines, tapered shaft, woodruf keyed? Just interested.

Stuc howd you get on?
Ive got a strange squeal coming from my 2.0, been advised aircon or alt tensioner bearings. taken a/c belt off today but still there so guessing alt tensioner.

Hi Bvan, It was the alt tensioner pulley bearing and the alternator pulley had become detached, but it wasn't a squealing noise it was a rough bearing/grating sound, relating to engine speed.
I renewed alternator, 2nd hand from Bongo spares(Paul or George, same person so I found out at the weekend)
alternator pulley, new
a/c tensioner pulley bearing, new, easy pressed out.
