Bongo Fury

Hi there, please can anyone help me identify a coolant water pipe for a part number so I can order the right one. It is located under the drivers side, there are two thinner metal pipes running alongside each other, close together. The one that is leaking is the metal pipe that attaches to the rubber hose which connects to the bottom of the engine. It is not the thicker long wiggly metal one with the "T" on it, as we have already replaced this coolant pipe (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Mazda ... 0952529286) earlier in the year along with a new water pump which had solved all of our leakages for 6 months, however it looks like another one of the 20yr old pipes has given up. If anyone can identify it for a part number please - unfortunatly I don't know how to attach my photo which shows it clearly. Any help appreciated, thanks

The small pipe that you say connects to the bottom of the engine is the one you've had replaced. The 2 smaller pipes are for air conditioning...there are coolant pipes (large bore around 38mm) going forward , and smaller 16 mm pipes behind the driver going across...pictures would be helpful, or refer to Lushprojects

That pipe is part of the transmission, the two pipes feed ATF to & from the cooler at the front. The pair of pipes are sold as one, fixed together with spacer strips.

Thanks lovely people, thats why this forum is brill...Ok so now I know what they are and in the light of this morning I have discovered a trail of pinky oily liquid down the street this must be the autotransmission fluid? Will there have been any damage by this leaking? Do I need to check anything before replacing? Are these easy to replace (thinking why are all pipes on the bongo wiggly and long) and wondering if are there any guides/links anyone can point us in the direction of? My reliable bongo garageman is 5 miles away...... would it limp that far? All help appreciated

Yes that'll be transmission fluid that's leaked. Probably won't damage the box but you'll lose drive if it leaks a lot.

See this thread - http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... =3&t=58378 - I managed to get Northern Bongolow (Ady) on here to change mine plus that coolant pipe you've already had done. Problem is that a lot needs to be stripped out to thread the new pipes in with them being coupled up with tabs sticking out. A lot of cursing & stripped knuckles as I recall. If you PM Ady he can give you (or your garage) some useful pointers.

If you top it up now and take some with you you'll probably get it there as long as there's no traffic holdups. Mine got from Manchester to Burnley ok but I guess it depends how bad the leak is....

Thanks Muzorewa, would like to try and find out some more info before I drive it as it is leaking quite a bit. There is stilll some transmission fluid on the dipstick whilst cold engine not running. My poor old 20yr old Bongo, its pipes are old...and I keep doing things to it to keep it on the road as I love it to bits, but these things come along and I think again "is it worth it? what will go next....eeek" - So im wondering if anyone has done a see me through hose fix on this pipe? wondering if it would hold to 1. get me to the garage (5 miles) to get proper diagnosis and price 2. keep me on the road till my pre MOT time 3. save me money (pipe, ATF fluid, labour). Hope Northern Bongolow (Ady) can advise me.

Ady did a quick fix of a bit of rubber pipe and two jubilee clips which was ok for a week while I rounded up the replacement parts

Now that is reasuring Was that a quick fix on the coolant pipe or the atf pipe?

Both. The ATF pipe was hissing (I think that's the correct term) oil out and on inspection and a bit of prodding, the coolant pipe was looking sad too. If you look at the photos in the thread I mentioned, you can see the state of the coolant pipe, holed both sides
