Bongo Fury

went to van this morning alarm screaming and red led on. van locked up and no key in ignition . it was minus 5 at the time . turned key over alarm went quiet and went for drive no problems .van went to normal temperature . pulled up engine turned off . tried ignition turned over no noise at all of coolant alarm .
any ideas please ,

Sounds like to the LCA is incorrectly wired to a permanent live supply on the leisure or main battery rather than thru an ignition switched feed. What was the level in the expansion tank when you checked?

just dun bypass on fuse box the other day . iam wondering if it is some thing to do with that .? Level of coolant is fine .

when you bypassed the fusebox I assume you switched top left and right over to LB. most who fit the alarm fit it to the top right fuse so yes you have a perm live to the leisure battery now. move it to a different fuse. (i'm on what would be the electric blind fuse if I had electric blinds, when I got the van it was on top right)

You need to pick something like fuse 10 (instrument panel) which should be only live when the ignition is on.

put original fuse back alarm working perfect now . just the radio to sort out to Leisure battery .

Check that your radio as it's own on/off knob .. as some do not .. they are ignition live (ie: ... ignition on radio on .... ignition off radio off) ..

you did right with the bypass loom, if you drop the fusebox out you will see where the aftermarket alarm has been spliced in, remove it from there and splice it into a different fuse. if you aren't sure then get an autoelec to sort it, should only take 15-20 minutes at most to do.

thanks for advise but the alarm and ignition are suppose to be wired together so that it works correctly so if i splice into an other fuse i would be back ware i started.

What would cause ""alarm screaming and red led on."" The coolant level was as should be.

alarm problem solved now . its how to bypass radio to leisure battery now .

by moving the alarm to another fuse that is ignition live only. as said above. top right is accessories (stereo, lighters etc), that whole circuit should be on the leisure battery with the bypass. moving the alarm to second row second fuse from the left puts it on an ignition only circuit which is for the dash lights, it is still tied to the ignition. trying to just move the stereo to the leisure battery is not the solution to your problem, infact you may find you have other issues doing that including having to put a new live feed under the dash. joining the LCA to another circuit is the best and the correct solution. if you aren't sure, and it is a Haydn alarm then ring Haydn for advice.
