Bongo Fury

Hi guys i'm looking for assistance i'm a novice mechanic and our bongo roof is not raising properly it would seem that at the back it is not raising is there an easy way to raise the roof i've heard about using a 9mm allen key can anyone help please

If I'm reading your post correctly, it sounds like the roof is lifting as it should.

It only lifts at the front.

Does it look like this ?



If it does, then that's your lot
(assuming you have a factory-fitted AFT roof)

Various other aftermarket roofs are around, some open up at the rear (front hinged), and there's at least one type which open sideways.

Never seen one which rises up parallel to the closed position though on a Bongo.

Were you expecting something like this ?

I perhaps should have been more explanatory, there are 2 cracks around 8 inches form the rear of the vehicle on the aft which is impeding the roof raising fully hence why i'd like to know if there is another way of doing this. the struts extend but as far as i can make out there is also i think a screw drive at the very rear of the aft to help in raising i don't expect it to go straight up. i do see on the picture of the first bongo there is some sort of lifting mechanism at the rear, this is what i think is malfunctioning and i think the cracks are there because it was forced up and has cracked under the pressure by the previous owner.

I have realised my error it would seem my newness to bongo ownership is showing, due to the crack in the roof it would not raise. After bracing it both sides with some wood and claps it raises now my only question is how to fix the cracked roof enough that it doesn't crack again under the strain of being raised?

no that was us not another broken roof just the same injured one would it be possible to repair without removal of roof do you think?

There's got to be a van being scrapped somewhere in Scotland from which you could get another roof.
