Bongo Fury

Hi folks. I have a 97 bongo friendee it has recently decided to make its own faults.

FAULT 1
First of all the central locking has packed up a common fault i believe after some research fuses are all ok will check the door wiring tomorrow but where abouts is the relay i keep reading about.

FAULT 2
The rear demister has stopped working the wiper works and number plate light works. The light doesnt illuminate when i select the rear window.

FAULT 3
The passenger electric window doesnt work from either drivers or passengers button. Drivers window does work.

I also find whenever I go over bumps I get alot of knocking noises does this sound like it needs new antiroll bars and is there a way i can check if they are broken.

As you say, check out the door wiring for fault 1/. and eliminate that first
Fault 2/. Do you mean that the number plate light stops working when you select the rear window? If so, it sounds like you could have a break in the wires that run in the rubber tube that carries the cables at the top of the door...not unknown on Bongos
Fault 3/. Also door wiring on drivers side...OR, you may have switched the controls off on the driver's side door switch...there's a switch that stops the passenger window working
Knocking:
Not many reported broken A/R bars...Likely suspects are: Droplinks, A/R bar bushings and brackets, or front wishbone bushes and/or ball joint in front wishbone. Top strut mounts can also give knocking at the front, but not so likely
If it's a wishbone fault, replace it rather than messing with replacing the joint!

Fault 2: I read as the light on the rear demister switch doesn't work and nor does the rear demister. Check the fuse first and check connections at either end of the screen.

If they 'Clunk' when you go over bumps they're likely busted.

To check the droplinks, get someone to rock the Bongo hard while you lean in and hold the link...it feels notchy and wobbly if worn. Always replace as a pair. Frankly, for the cost involved, I'd replace the rollbar bushes AND brackets at the same time. Use Mazda genuine parts....they've lasted your current mileage, so you can expect similar life from Mazda replacements!. If you have any further knocks, it'll be the wishbones. They'll all need doing at some time, then you've likely got thousands of miles use ahead of you!!!
