cold weather spec bongo

Can anyone help.
I'm about to fit a eberspacher heater kit to my van but the place I'd like to fix it (under the passenger seat)
is taken up by a small air filter, something called an exhaust shutter solenoid valve and a couple of electrical connectors.
A rubber hose runs from the solenoid to something called the exhaust brake unit which to me looks like a butterfly valve.
I would like to know if its ok to disconnect this lot and bin it!. The diagram that shows these items is in the fuel and
emissions control system manual on shis site page F3-30.

Yep, disconnect it.....not required in this country as the weather is not so cold...you can remove the whole unit and put a bit of plain exhaust in its place.

I am about to do the same thing and used to have the Cold Start Device.

I have a custom built stainless steel exhaust system now.

The Eberspacher will probably be fitted in the next couple of weeks.

I have an idea that I need to have the heater professionally fitted and signed off by qualified company to satisfy my insurance company.

The above is all OK if its an older van.
The later ones (assuming its a diesel) have a lot of gubbins down there which also controls the turbo (as well as the exhaust valve if fitted). You need to be very careful what you take off or the turbo won't function.
The area couple of Fact sheets in the members area which detail fitting to both old and new shape vans.

Not sure about the insurance angle but I did an Eberspacher last year so if you want any photos/ideas on how to fit I'd be happy to help. There is also a really good guide available for club members.

Just an update. Have finished fitting the heater just need to wire it up now
but I'm stuck at one wire. It's one of four that go to the fuse box. It's coloured (white/red).
Anyone know what its for or where it's attached.

What model heater have have you got? All the installation instructions are available online.

Some have built in control units while some of the older models are external.

Sorry, I'm a complete novice at this forum stuff. Have been trying to get some images from
photo&ucket into my post's from the start without any luck so far.
My van is a 1995 vintage from north japan so came with two batteries fitted,the heater I'm
fitting is a D2 model. If it worked this time the wire I'm concerned about is on the left.

just replying to supreme being. Sorry about time delay.Operating system meltdown (WINDOZ) was the cause, am now using linux peppermint, never touching microsoft again. Anyway getting things up and running again this thread was forgotten about. Answer to your question "where did it go" it went in the bin with the other 8 or 10 wires in the loom
that weren't required as was this reply I would think by now. :roll:
