Bongo Fury

Hi People, Newbe member here!

So I'm currently planning a bit of an unusual Project which I will reveal more later.

I Need some help from you Bongo Experts.

I have a Standard rear wheel drive 1997 2.5td Bongo. I'm looking at installing the running gear to enable drive also to the front wheels.
Apart from the Gearbox, prop and front Diff will I also require anything else for example are the front hubs the same in both 2wd and 4wd Versions. Will the front prop bolt onto the Chassis?

Any advice will be much appreciated

My advice is sell 2wd Bongo - buy 4wd Bongo.

There's no way this can be cost effective, but welcome to BF.

Sounds like a bit of a challenge. In theory all the bits bolt on but ideally you'd need a complete donor vehicle to raid for parts. Front hubs and ABS setup are different for starters.

Yes its a straightforward conversion, The FWD hubs and drive shafts Will also be required.

PS as usual its best to contact your Insurance Company re the Modification/conversion, particularly if its going to be a DIY project.

Hi, thanks for all the feedback.
So in summary, diff, driveshafts and hubs.
Could anybody explain where is the front diff normaly mounted. Unfortunatly I haven't had a chance to look underneath a Awd Bongo yet.
Anyone have anymore feedback about the ABS setup.
I found a helpful breakers who are able to supply the complete front drive. So I need to make sure I will receive everything I need.

I won't divulge to much just yet as further planning is needed. Lets just say it will be one of a kind Bongo

I think front diff mounts on bracket 39-530 which fixes to the main crossmember:

I can see exactly the parts I need, Brilliant!!. Looks like I'm going to need the complete cross member with the 3 diff mounts.

The only other difference seems to be the drive hubs. The strut knuckles wheel bearing and discs seem to be the same. The Abs rotor sensor also seems the same.

the rear prop is also shorter on the 4wd because of the transfer box addition.
