Missing pipe from top side of expansion tank

I've noticed my expansion tank has a small outlet on the top left - pointing inwards towards the bonnet area - it has nothing on it. Considering it's a pressurised system is it supposed to have something on it? I'm guessing it's sealed as when I removed the tank cap there was plenty of pressure in it.

Is it the overflow pipe for when the pressure cap releases due to over pressure, the pipe just directs the water downwards rather than across the ABS system if you have one fitted !
I think some people have put a bottle under it in order to be able to see if anything gets released.
Or is it the stub (drilled out) that is used on the 2l where the bleed hose connects, as they don't have the same problems as the diesel and V6 which need manually bleeding.

No - it's another pipe - top left of the tank, not on the pressure cap.

Dodgey,Its a blank stub, most if not all 2.5td/v6 have this make up.
