Hi all
How critical are the level's on the gearbox dipstick.? I've just had mine in for a full service and on re checking (when engine was cold) found that the fluid was about an inch over full!

Aye, Aye!,
assuming your gearbox is auto, the level should be checked with the engine runnning. Move the selector up and down the quadrant (make sure the brake is on  ) move back to neutral and dip . This should give you a true reading.

Thanks for that Colin 8) Will run and check tonight.
What equipment would I need to suck oil out if still over full ?

Getting oil of the auto box.

Realised that my gearbox had way too much oil after checking it properly when I got the Bongo.

Shopping at a Farmers store (I live in the country) I found a large syringe with a very small diameter long tube used for getting fluid out of sheep (have you had yer tea!). It had a spare tube which I taped to the original making it over 2 ft long. I secured the farmost tube with wire incase it fell into the gearbox and pushed the whole lot down the dip stick/filler tube. Managed to suck up a litre of oil very easily without pushing crud down the tube.
The whole lot cost less than ?2.

Cheers Bonz

Managed to find exactly the same thing from our local farmers store.....easy peasy, sucked out over a litre and half of oil. Re checked levels a couple of times, no problem!

Thanks again, much appreciated :P
