My son, in all his varied layers of wonderfulness, has shut the curtain in the door.
We have 2 weeks left in our trip. If anyone can stop me from throttling him, it would be much appreciated by my other half!

better than the seat belt metal end i had to get out of the sliding door mech the other week for someone. just lean on the door from the inside and pull it out, then the mechanism will/should complete its closing sequence, then you can open it-----hopefully

.
can i suggest you leave your child on the services, you may get a few weeks peace before he finds his way home.

Thanks for the suggestion however it appears to be stuck in the locking mechanism, being as such, I'm not having much luck leaning on the door to free it..
Should I try prying the door open gently with a screwdriver and pulling on the curtain?
Annoyingly I can't access the tools under the door

I wouldn't use anything to pry it, damage will result.

take the battery off then remove the inner panel then disconnect the self closing then you should be able to open the door.
if you dont disconnect the battery you could loose a finger as the mechanism is trying to rotate the closing bit, if this moves while your in there, you wont stop it.

Do be careful stunews. What a pain when you are away too. I hope it is quickly resolved and with no damaged digits.
Let us know how you get on.

Glad to hear it is sorted

I had visions of you having to climb over the front seats to get into the back and vice versa for the rest of your trip!
