Bongo Fury

The cigarette lighter isn't working in the cabin in my bongo. The last owner told me that he plugged a cheap/dodgy water heating element in, which fried it.
I was hoping it was just a fuse, looking at the fuse diagram, it says no8 is the 12v power outlet - is this cigarette lighter??
This fuse is shared with the radio, and the radio is still working, so I'm guessing it's not the fuse if I've got this right. I'd be at a bit of a loss if this is the case.
Taking the family away for August, and need to get a few gremlins fixed before I go! Any help is much appreciated..

if you mean one in rear they can have their own fuse on them but not a replacable one

There's a fusible wire on the back of both Bongo fag-lighter sockets. It's like a length of solder wire a bout 4-5 mm long which melts when overloaded. I replaced mine with hefty wire in it's place and put a fuse in-line instead, and while I was about it, I ran 30 amp cables , but fused it a lot less

Mine was a pig to get out in the front, but with a little effort it's O.K. Rear one was easy.

To be honest, I can't remember , other than use a mirror and torch to see what holds it in.
There are some locators that need to be depressed , I think?....Remove the panel under the steering wheel and get your hand in there once you have had a peek with the mirror....It does take a time to remove it , though....Once it's done, there won't be any more trouble with the pesky fusible link...but put your new fuse somewhere accessible

I've spent the last hour wrestling with it, and I have to admit I'm beaten. Does the whole unit come out? Or just the connector that appears to go in the back?? Any help would be much appreciated.. we're sailing tomorrow!!

To get the connector off the back there is a tab on the left side as you look at it from front
Tight squeeze to get hold of it but just squeeze both sides in and wiggle pull it
I never did get the lighter socket out
