What a great help the sheets are!
Our fan packed in yesterday, lost 1, 2 & 3 positions, then 4.
We were on the way back down from Sutherland and the weather getting warmer all the time.
( Ullapool had been freezing
)
At 50 mph with a/c only on natural draught it was ok, any slower windows wide open was ok, but swmbo didn't want her hair blown about
So, today fan was found to be stuck solid. All removed, bottom bearing very dirty looking, brushes not bad. Got bearing freed and oiled felt washer on each bearing. Sound fine on direct 12v supply, all boxed back up, fuses had already been checked out, no worky
Resistor block out and sure enough, broken contacts. Soldered back together as per sheets and bingo, all 4 settings working.
My heartfelt thanks to those have gone before and produced them, must have saved me hours and maybe plenty dosh
