Bleeding

I am fully aware of the process for bleeding the coolant, and have done so a couple of times.

Just wondering what peoples' opinions are regarding parking the van on a slope (or ramps) to raise the front as much as possible before bleeding. Possibly even lifting both wheels on the passenger side? Is this going to make it easier/quicker/more effective?

I'd be interested to see what the internals of the head look like to see just what is happening with the airlock. Don't suppose anybody has a cutaway picture?

there are some pics somewhere by (steve) widdowson2008 he cut one into slices, (some of the slices i have :roll: ).

i think the jest of his findings were that the head/engine is fitted slightly front high, and the head outlet to the front rad is NOT at the highest point, this leaves a possible pocket of air at the front of the head and along the ceiling that has to be forced out/down to leave the head, this it doesnt want to do, even when hot and pumped, to purge the head of air ive found that it may be ness to get the stat to open, this alters the flow through the engine and allows the bypass to flood the engine/head with cooler water from the front rad.

I have raised the front on a Ranger head equipped Bongo... seemed to help a bit.... "Bongonads" from New Zealand suggested it as an easy bleed method...as he also has a Ranger Headed Tin Top with no egr crap fitted .... sadly he was removed from the forum before he was able to share this and his method of bleeding without a bleed hose....

He simply removed the Temp sender on top (front) of the head, I have done this myself and it does the trick, even with the engine cold.

The only problem it might be a wee bit daunting to none DIY peeps.

Yeah...he did share it with me via email.... but sadly he was "shouted" down by others and he was banned, if only they had listened to him... :roll:
