Bongo Fury

Hi all... We have recently been badly let down by a local company to do a mid conversion on our beloved bongo. Does anyone know of a company in the south west/Bath of the country that is available at short notice to do this.

The only company that we can find is called free spirit camper vans in Chichester but can't find any reviews of their conversion work online. Has anyone had conversion work done by them or know anyone that has?

Any feedback greatly welcome as don't want to be let down a second time!

There's Bellhill Garage in Norton St Philip or try Kevin at Southern Bongos in North Baddesley just outside Southampton. He does a few conversion options.

I am using Southern Bongos for my rear conversion, EHU and a few other bits.

Price so far seems to be very reasonable, plus I keep adding to the build daily it seems.

Have spoken to bell hill and they don't do conversions anymore.

I've spoken to southern bongos; thy can do it but almost seem too cheap! After being let down so badly we are feeling cautious... ! Southern bongos website shows their conversion work a bit 'basic' and we wanted something with a bit of a nice feel to it ... Is their work better in real life!??

The conversions from Southern Bongos are well made but if they are perhaps not quite what you have in mind, then it's worth continuing to look round rather than rushing in. I spent about a year looking around at different options and then built my own.

If I was in the market for a nice quality conversion which could be tweaked to my requirements, I would go for something from Clearcut Conversions in Barnstaple. I think they are pretty busy at the moment but why not give Richard a call and pop down to discuss your ideas.

Celtic motorhomes (Ed), or Clearcut (Rich). Both have good reputations.

Thanks for the recommendations. It means a lot as know I dont get involved here like I used to. I still browse occassionally but dont log in often.
Celtic Motorhomes are pretty much 99% VW T5 based now, but we have retained the full side conversion for the Bongo and even introduced a few tweaks to keep it up to date with our other designs. Unfortunately we have stopped doing rear and mid conversions as they always seemed so compromised and in reality 95% of our customers opted for the side conversion.

Sorry.....not going to happen. We take great pride in our work and designs and only supply a fully fitted conversion package. It never hurts to ask ....just dont be offended by a blunt reply .

No worries there then I am a Geordie and not that easily offended! I only asked because you had intimated in the other post that they were almost redundant? Shy boys get nowt!

Anyway It was just a thought. I managed to get 131 photo's of a conversion from another forum. Although helpful the only problem was that there was not sizes or technical information. I am more than capable of converting a van and can claim disctinction from already restoring several caravans back to pristine condition.

Your response was a commercial one and I respect that decision being self employed myself albeit in anoher trade.

Hi we got our rear conversion from northstar conversions well made and looks good also Adam is very accommodating and helpful he made ours to our own spec.....
