My tailgate struts have stopped raising rear door all the way top the top stopping just short so now I keep hitting my head on it (please no laughing) - Tried spraying with silicone did help bars run smoother for a while but still stopping a little short
So any advice in what I can try to improve this recent annoying problem (to save my poor head when I forget to push the door all the way up) would be very much appreciated .

You're probably looking for replacements - a breaker or a pair of used struts on eBay might see you right. They might improve a bit in the warmer weather.
A slightly different issue, but I've just sent mine away to SGS Engineering to have them regassed to support the weight of a tailgate mounted bike rack. They can regas to any spec. 2x £17.50 + VAT + carriage. They do them new, but at £60+VAT EACH.
Come to think of it, they should have phoned me today for payment - I guess I won't be seeing them back tomorrow, then...

I'll be sending mine off to SGS too for re-gassing shortly. If they can't re-gas your existing ones, they'll knock the cost of the new struts.

Don't be so sure... if they regas and it fails within a month, they knock the regas cost you've already paid off when you purchase new ones.
