TV Aerial?

Hi All,
I have just taken delivery of a TV/DVD player along with an August DTA240 aerial, which had good reviews, but the TV wasn't picking up any signal with it attached, so the aerial is going back.
Does anyone have any suggestions for aerials that work please?

I use an Avtex STH 1000 and they do a STH 2000 model too ..... difference I believe is the 12v booster in the 1000 and a 12/24v in the 2000 kit
Many on here use the Avtex...they just work...

Have you tried it using another aerial to ensure the TV itself is ok? Have you only tried it sat in a field in the middle of nowhere?

I'll try to keep this simple for all forum members but if anyone wants more technical info then just PM me anytime.
I have been installing audio video and satellite equipment for over 20 years. Take it from me there is no simple solution to get DVBT (freeview) in a mobile situation it depends on many factors.
Here are some tips:
Do a postcode search to see if freeview is available in the area your travelling to, just type "freeview coverage checker" into google, you will see a list of channels available, the name of the transmitter and the V or R symbol that relates to the polarity of the transmitter, there are generally two types of transmitters ( masts)
1. Main transmitters horizontally polorized full 6 multiplexes ( lots of channels )
2. Relay transmitters sometimes called freeview light transmitters 3 multiplexes ( basic channels)
As you drive into your campsite take a note of the basic direction AND polarity of the aerials on the houses so you have a good idea where to point your aerial.
Invest in a cheap signal meter from CPC or maplins that gives you basic signal strength so you can align your aerial.
Any questions fire away but I may be a little slow in responding as I have limited internet access over the next few days.

When I am out and about..... I use The Freepoint UK app on my phone.... gives me a heads up on when the Avtex should be pointing towards..... It also gives the direction of where to point your Sat system for Freesat/Astra 28...

Thanks for the replies.
I will give the Avtex a try.
As to where I was trying the previous aerial out. I was in my sitting room. Tried it in all rooms in the house, but got No Signal showing on the TV.
Thanks again to you all,
Marion

So you could still have a faulty or incorrectly setup TV? Have you got a 'normal' aerial for use on the main TV to try?

No, haven't got a normal aerial here. We're a Sky household.
The TV wants to set up, it telling me there's no signal.
Have ordered the Avtex aerial. If TV fails to work with that I will look into problem with TV.
Here's hoping,
Marion.

No Signal usually means that you haven't retuned the TV
