Hi all,
I'm after some advice, i am looking to buy a front windscreen and front window covers for insulation as well as privacy while we are sleeping etc in our Bongo.
What are the peoples favourites, and what do people not recommend? - and where from.......I like the look of the internal ones, but has anyone had issues with the suckers not working or sticking? Are there any advantages in buying an external one instead?
Thanks in advance for any feedback
Jodie

we have the internal ones and have been camping over the winter. They make a big difference to warmth and also reduce condensation. Have had no problems with sticking them on so far and being internal no problems with strong wind etc.

Ill second that reply
If your not in a rush, they come for sale on here reasonably often.I waited and got a full set (windscreen,2 door and tailgate) from a forum member ,almost new,for £40.
Never had any problems with the suckers, but there is still a bit of condensation.Does seem warmer too.

we use just kampers screen & front window thermal cover for a vw t4, does the job for about £50, less cash than interior screens & they don't fall off !

+1 for the JK T4 front cover.... fitted outside, no condensation and don't fall off...

We have a full set of " Silver screens " from the club shop......they do seem expensive.....but as you may see from our avatar they keep you nice and cosy......the picture was taken in November some years ago....and after a good nights sleep we were amazed to wake up to 4 inches of virgin snow all around......because they cover every window they keep out noise...keep you warm when it is cold...and reflect the sun when it is hot..and reduce condensation....one of the best buys we made for all-year camping..........

I don't have an external silver screen so can't speak from experience, but a couple of disadvantages spring to mind:
1) what's it like putting it away after its been rained on and / or the local seagulls have been using it for target practice?
2) unless you sleep using the front seats, then you're leaving the main living area of the van uninsulated.
Personally, I use a set of 8 internal ones which keeps the whole van nice and warm. The rear side window screens make a huge difference as the blinds have minimal use for keeping the warmth in.
There is a 'cheap' external screen on eBay at the moment and by the sellers own admission it's not worth the £40 he paid for it when new. If you do want one, ensure its a good quality insulated and waterproof type which will set you back around £100.

HEY Simon......

...I just said that......don't steal my thunder you sod.......

.....joking aside....I totally agree that a full set of indoor screens makes a big difference in all weathers...

You had your thunder twice

. The main reason I mention the rear side screens is that most people selling a 'full' set of screens are really only selling a half set so its well worth hunting down all 8.
