Fiamma back box

Thinking of getting the Fiamma 360 rear storage box, but unclear as to the cheapest option for mounting it. We don't need bikes, so open to suggestions.. :)

Can anyone tell me if the box obscures the rear number plate/lights etc?

Thanks all.

Derek

Going for 320 (smaller) but question remains re how to mount? Will it obscure number plate?? 320 won't cover rear lights, so no problem there.

Anyone?

Thanks

Derek

Hi Derek...
Have you thought of a small trailer...a Daxara or Erde ?...you can get them with a lockable lid!

Hi Derek...
Seriously, with one of those little tiddlers on the back, it's not even visible, let alone "feeling it"....weight wise it's like a pimple on a pound of pickled pork!.....and they REALLY are useful!

For well under the price of a thule or fiamma box, you could get a bak-rak + large plastic box...far more flexible and then able to use the full weight limit - just need a towball!!

Sorry can't find a better picture, but from memory the box was only £40 and still going strong 2-3 years later. With a few brackets you can adapt the bak-rak to lots of other uses and its 2mins to remove via quick release clamshell.

I had one of the smaller fiamma boxes but it was too small to be of much use.
The 360 (147cm wide x 38cm deep x 68cm high ) is def the way to go if you opt for a Fiamma .It is the right width for the rear of the Bongo, looks good, and is deep enough to usefully cart reasonably sized bits and pieces (including a porta 335!)
The other sizes are either too narrow , too deep or too bl---y massive IMO.
The box mounts to a Fiamma bike rack in a few minutes using quick detach fittings
If you get a s/h one check it very carefully for hairline cracks, check the piston operation and remember to ask for the lock keys and QD fittings

Got a s/h 320 seems big enough, but half the fittings were missing, so £48 for a new set! Seems solid though, no cracks and closes well.

On the hunt for a VWT4 carry bike now..

Fiamma used to do a '300' model ( the original one I had which was too small) It was 38 cm deep and the same width as the 320. I think that the 320 and 500 protrude too far towards the rear and look bulky - both are 53cm deep.
The 320 is only 38cm deep but is the full width of the Bongo, has good weight distribution ,and looks much better.
' The Backrack' protrudes further back than all of the Fiammas!
Of course it is all down to personal preference and experience

You may be proven right..the 360 is full width, after all..

Just received the factory fixing kit..lots of bits, no instructions

May upgrade in future.

Sorry, it should have read that the 360 is full width of the Bongo and is 38cm deep, not the 320

The standard one comes with two rails. Add another rail and associated fittings for £50-£70 each. Can't remember how many rails the Ebay one had but it seemed to go for a high price
